A simple South Indian dessert, Sunnundallu is a good evening snack.


2 cup white lentils (urad dal)
1 cup sugar
1 cup ghee
Almonds/Cashews for garnishing


  1. Roast the white lentils until the raw smell is lost and the lentils turn brown-ish
  2. Take the lentils off the flame and grind into a fine powder
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground lentil flour and sugar, into a consistent mixture
  4. Melt the ghee and add it to the mixture
  5. Knead the mixture well
  6. Roll small quantities of the kneaded mixture into balls
  7. Add roasted almonds/cashews for garnishing while rolling into balls
